a) The standard language of Yugoslavia, in which Serbian and Croatian languages were considered as a unit (as "Eastern variant" and "Western variant" respectively), and in which Bosnian language did not exist
b) An umbrella term for all the Slavic dialects spoken in nowadays Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro; in dialectology commonly referred to as Central South Slavic diasystem.
