carbonyl chloride

carbonyl chloride
A toxic gas, COCl, used in the manufacture of plastics, pesticides etc, and once used as a chemical weapon.

More of a French term. Phosgène. We prefer to call it carbonyl chloride. Less. . .disquieting, somehow.
