a) A chemical, such as sodium hypochlorite or hydrogen peroxide, or a preparation of such a chemical, used for disinfecting or whitening.
b) A variety of bleach.

a) To treat with bleach, especially so as to whiten (fabric, paper, etc) or lighten (hair).
